I've tried 4 or 5 of Tom's toothpastes, this one is definitely the best. The 'Whole Care' selection gives the best results, and the Spearmint is the best flavor. Far superior to any brand out there. PROS: No colorings, it's white. I've always been skeptical of brushing with green and blue dyed toothpaste from other brands, why do I want dye on my teeth?; no artificial sweeteners, something else you don't want on your teeth. Then when you do your research, you find Tom's of Maine is an all around good company as well. Good people, good product. CONS: The price. Shop around for the best deals and use coupons. But, you do get what you pay for with this great product. It's worth it.

Tom's of Maine Toothpaste Tom's is a small company, employing fewer than two hundred people. It was founded in 1970 and then purchased by Colgate in 2006. Fortunately, Colgate has left Tom's alone to manage their business according to their original principles. Tom's makes natural products. The toothpaste contains no sugar, sweeteners, or artificial flavoring. By contrast, I looked at a tube of Colgate toothpaste that I have on the shelf. It contains "flavor," whatever that is, "saccharine," and "propylene glycol." The last ingredient is a less-toxic form of anti-freeze. One advantage of Tom's toothpaste is that we do not have to worry about ingesting poisons when we use it. I have been using Tom's for years. The toothpaste comes in many flavors. On Amazon, you can find Peppermint, Spearmint, Fennel, Orange-Mango, Cinnamint, Wintermint, Apricot, Soothing Mint, True Mint, and Gingermint, among others. I prefer the Peppermint flavor, which is refreshing, but not overwhelming. The toothpaste is available in sizes from 1 ounce to 6 ounces. I do not exactly live in a wilderness area, but my local stores no longer carry Tom's. Fortunately, it can be found on Amazon and other web sites. The prices do vary from vendor to vendor, so check for the best price.

I bought Aquafresh for $1.50. I bought Tom's for approx $5 with exactly same major ingreds and quantity as Aquafresh. There is hardly any taste in the paste. Do not recommend.

We started using Tom's Toothpaste after deciding to eliminate products with parabens and pthalates from our toiletries. I LOVE the way my mouth feels after using the Spearmint toothpaste - the mint is just right...not so strong your mouth burns, but strong enough to leave a clean tingle. And it really smells like fresh spearmint, not some lab-concocted fragrance, which is wonderful to smell on your own breath, or someone else's!

This toothpaste has a great flavor that isn't too strong like other toothpastes. Guests in my home have even complemented me on it. I also like that the tube is metal so you can roll it from the bottom up easily and get all of the paste out.

First time using a "health" toothpaste. However, I really like this. Much better than I thought it would be. I wanted to get away from the strong mint of the commercial brands. This has a nice orange taste. Doesn't quite foam up like commercial brands, but it's not really a big deal. Teeth and mouth feel clean after using it. I also feel much better about it from a health stand point. Someday, I suspect they are going to find out that all those harsh chemicals play havoc with the body, even in small amounts.

This is a great toothpaste for people that can't handle mint or cinnamon flavors, with its orange flavor not tasting overpowering or anything like some of the disgustingly sweet or chemically toothpastes I've tried while searching for something that didn't burn my mouth. The only problem I can name would be the fact that it is now extremely hard to come by, as Tom's of Maine seems to have discontinued it. Other than that, if it is still in stock here, grab it!

We keep buying six packs of this. Really nothing quite as good out there. One of the few toothpastes that is considered anti-tartar but doesn't make my mouth sore.

I have been using Tom's of Maine for over a year. I am allergic to a basic ingredient in standard toothpastes and cannot use them. I found Tom's by accident and tried it. The results exceeded my expectations. My mouth feels clean, my teeth are white and clean, and there is no harsh "toothpaste burn" like I get from all of the other brands. The "just brushed" feeling lasts for several hours. I have tried the Mango and the Strawberry. Both flavors are subtle so, I don't feel like I just chewed kids bubblegum. I highly recommend this product.

My wife and I have been using Tom's of Maine adult toothpaste for almost a year now and have been pleased with the results. No cavities. I admit that it took me about a week or so to get used to the new flavor, having switched over from normal, Colgate, Crest, Mentadent, etc. However, we really like the fact that it uses natural ingredients and that it does not contain artificial sweeteners, like saccharin. We did try to get our children to use ours as well. Unfortunately, they gagged each time we brushed their teeth because of the taste so we stuck with Crest for kids toothpaste. Until that is, we discovered the Tom's of Maine strawberry flavored toothpaste for kids. Since the Amazon product is an expensive 6 pack, we decided to buy a single tube from a local retailer to give it a try first. Our kids were excited to try out new toothpaste and more importantly, enjoyed the flavor without gagging! Sold! I don't know why the big toothpaste companies can't make toothpaste without saccharin. Until they do, we are a Tom's of Maine toothpaste household, even at the sometimes premium pice.

I tried the regular Tom's once and did not like it so I didn't think about getting this for my daughter until I read the other reviews and gave it a try. My daughter loves this. She had her heart set on princess toothpaste after her tube was gone so I thought she'd be upset, but she tells me how much she likes it every time she brushes her teeth.

Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste is the only toothpaste my kids will use. The taste of the toothpaste is very bland, with a slight strawberry flavor. My kids object to the strong flavors of almost all other toothpastes; but they'll use Tom's of Maine, because of its milder flavor. The flavor is more bland than I like for myself, and if your kids like strong flavors they may find it too bland as well. But if your kids object to strongly-flavored toothpastes, like mine do, then this brand is great.

First let me say, I am not a fan of Tom's of Maine. We actually had a friend once who used their deodorant and we had to have an intervention to tell her she smelled. Good friend, but very smelly. I tend to be skeptical of most "natural" hygiene products. (I admit I have some tom's deodorant myself, lavender, because it smells SO good... but I only use it in winter.) So I was wary of this toothpaste. But everything else we tried, my son declared was too burny or too sweet. I do remember as a kid finding a lot of toothpastes burny. The only one I could stand was Aim, which my son used for a while... but then got sick of it. So I tried other things and he kept complaining of the taste. Personally, I think a lot of kid's toothpastes are nasty. Sickeningly sweet. So I tried this, since a lot of parents raved about it when I mentioned our toothpaste woes. And YAY! He likes it. He's been using it for over a year now. I have tried it myself. It's not overwhelmingly tasty but it's not nasty, either. Leaves your mouth feeling more clean than like you just brushed with a hunk of bubble yum. Still the flavor is so mild... maybe "slightly strawberry" would be more fitting than "silly strawberry." :-D The only thing I don't like about it is the packaging. The tube is metal, and sometimes it will split and ooze. The cap is a flip cap which always breaks off... and instead of a real nozzle for it to come out it's just a hole in a flat circle. The top always ends up messy and sticky and gloopy, much worse than a normal toothpaste tube. Oh well. Have to take the bad with the good. Personally, I am a fan of flouride so I am glad this comes in a flouride version.

I bought this for my kids 14,7,6 they all say it's gross and now I'm stuck with a whole case of it!! I tried it and it is very bland, wouldn't recommend or buy again............
