I have had quite a bad experience with my Hydrofloss. I've already purchased 2 of them in 2 and a half years. The fitting of the tank always fails: it ends up not fitting at all! This, of course, prevents the water from coming out of the hose. With the first Hydrofloss, I bought a replacement tank. It worked for a couple of months and then it started having the same problem. Finally, the water started going the wrong way, down to the motor. With my current Hydrofloss, I have to put pressure or weight (or my foot!) on the tank to make it work, and even with this drastic measure the flow is weak, not as strong as when the Hydrofloss is new. The picks themselves always break, and without much use. They seem to be very fragile and delicate. As for the service the company offers when the machine breaks, I cannot say I am happy either. When I explained to them that I had problems with the tank twice, they said that I was the only customer who had complained about it (hard to believe). They also said that they were going to send me a small rubber piece to try to fix the problem and they never did. I think I am going to go for the classic Waterpik. My sister has had one for several years and it seems a lot more durable and sturdy.

This is my 3rd Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator in the past two years. This last one I bought on April 5th, 2010 and here it is August 20th, 2010 and it's done for. The first two just stopped working, this one began not starting with the on/off switch unless I fiddled with it for awhile. Then it started putting out the same speed of water regardless of the speed setting, which just kept getting lower and lower until hardly any water would come out. For [...] bucks I'd expect to get more from this product! So, I ran down to WalMart and bought one for [...] bucks. It works as well as the hydro floss and it sure is cheaper. Don't get me wrong, when it works I like it, a lot, but they just don't seem to be built to last very long.

My dentist recommended that I get a Hydro Floss. It really adds to the overal brushing experience. It is much more powerful than a water pik.

It arrived in good order, everything works fine, and I think it will prove to aid my dedication to oral self-care. A great product by my standards!

I have used a WaterPik Ultra for the past couple of years about once every day or two. After about 3 months of use, the button on the handle stopped working so I had to turn the power off to the unit every time I needed to remove the irrigator from my mouth. Since it was after my 30 day return period, I just decided to live with it. About a month ago, my WaterPik tube sprung a leak and then broke in half. After reading other reviews on the WaterPik Ultra on Amazon, I realized that this was a common problem with this unit after about 12 to 18 months of use. The replacement tube that WaterPik sells apparently doesn't work either. Since there weren't a lot of options on the market for oral irrigators, and the WaterPik was the best rated by other customers, I decided to buy another WaterPik Ultra. After over 2 years of owning the WaterPik, the current model was identical to the old one in every way. Upon initial use, I found that the motor was loose or defective and the unit bounced all over the place on the counter. Also, the water pressure was substantially less than the original unit that I owned. So I returned it and decided to try the Hydro Floss. The Hydro Floss by comparison seems to be a much better built unit. The tube is substantially more flexible than the WaterPik making me think that it will probably last many more years than the WaterPik. The water reservoir holds slightly more water than the WaterPik as well. You have to push down a little harder on the button on the handle than the WaterPik to turn off the water jet. Initially I noticed that the Hydro Floss at its highest setting had less water pressure than my original WaterPik had at slightly higher than half way. At first I thought about returning it as a result of this, but after using it for a week I decided that it was more than sufficient for my needs. I never used the WaterPik at higher than half way on its dial anyway. I'm not sure what the patented magnetic technology is or how it works since I wasn't able to find much information about it, but it seems to work as well or better than my old WaterPik. I also purchased the additional pocket pal tips thinking that it would improve the pressure. They do actually improve the pressure a little bit, but the angle is much different than the standard tips. However, they are much more comfortable to use since they have a soft rubber on the tip compared to the hard plastic of the standard tips. I now alternate between the two since I like the angle of the standard tips and the softness and slight increase in pressure of the pocket pal tips. Now that I've used this unit for a few weeks, I would highly recommend it. The only thing I would like to improve is the water pressure, but it isn't a hindrance to its use. And the added benefit of the magnetic technology seems to help it clean better. It is more expensive than the WaterPik, but I think it will probably outlast 2 or more of the WaterPik Ultra.

Average Rating:

-Uses electromagnetic charge on water, which in turn is more effective for cleaning -More effective than Water Pik -Adjustable power settings Authorized Distributor
